课程摘要:
This is an advanced course intended to allow students with background of chemical oceanography or marine chemistry to get a better feeling about what field data really means. How to discern flow patterns and to identify water masses and fronts based on hydrological and geochemical data in the Philippine Sea will be attempted. Further, students will use these data to evaluate exchanges of waters among the Philippine Sea and East and South China Seas.
There will be no tests but after a few lectures by the instructor the students will each be assigned a research topics based on field data either collected by them or retrieved from data centers. From then on the course will surround these topics and the students will be expected to present their findings in the class. A final report is expected. The grade depends on the quality of the report and the way students participated in the discussion in the class.
